The brains behind the operation…

Hi there! I’m Amanda. so nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by. let me introduce myself.

Born and raised in the tiny mountain town of Saranac Lake, New York in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, I grew up spending summers swimming and tubing on the lake and my winters skiing and snowboarding at Whiteface. Although I loved growing up there, I always knew I was destined for a life in the big apple and moving to New York City was a dream I was determined to make happen. However, before we get ahead of ourselves, a lot of things happened between making that dream a realization and graduating high school. I was accepted into the prestigious undergrad commerce program at Smith School of Business at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. It was there that I learned the ins and outs of the business world, and if I’m being honest, found most of my classes a little on the boring side and became worried I may have made the wrong choice…until I had my first marketing class. I was immediately hooked! Finally, something that sparked my interest! I loved how marketing combined both the analytical side of your brain as well as the creative. I decided to pursue marketing as my course of specialization. It was the perfect fit for me! I continued my studies abroad with marketing as my main focus at the University of Bath in Bath, England as well as completing a marketing internship at a luxury safari travel company for a semester in Cape Town, South Africa.

After graduating, when thinking about marketing in terms of a career, I knew it had to be a product that I would use everyday and that resonated with me, which is how I ended up working in beauty for over 7 years at some of the best firms in the industry. Ultimately, it was answering a Craigslist ad that landed me my first position as a Global Marketing Coordinator at Elizabeth Arden and the rest is history. When I’m not working, I can be found socializing with friends or family, doing yoga or pilates, reading, running, hiking in the mountains, or binging on the latest Netflix series.

Thank you for your time! I know it’s valuable. Hope to hear from you soon. cheers!

How did MOD begin? Well, sit back and relax…it’s story time.

It all began when i moved to denver, colorado.

After living and working in Manhattan for 7 years, it was time to leave my East Village neighborhood that I’d called home for so long and switch my heels for hiking boots by heading to the mountains of Colorado. I was nervous! The thought of starting somewhere completely new and so different from my life in the city with so many unknowns seemed overwhelming, but I packed my bags and was determined to make Denver work for me.  In my mind, I thought coming from working in the corporate world in Manhattan for so long that I would have no issues finding a job quickly in Denver, but I soon realized that this wouldn’t be the case as the job market here is just so small in comparison to that of New York City’s. Starting my own consulting company was something I’d always wanted to do long term – it was my ultimate end goal. However, I’d put it on the back burner as I thought I would need many more years of experience than I currently had. After a long and grueling job search in Denver, one day I just realized I’d had enough. I said to myself, “Why not now?” Sitting in a café in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood where I now call home, I quickly wrote down all of the steps I’d need to take to make this dream come true and set off each week accomplishing them one by one. I realized, especially within the Denver market, there are so many startups out there that need help with their marketing and branding strategy, but don’t have the funding to hire a full time marketing position with benefits. I saw an opportunity to create my own marketing consulting startup catering to other startups who need some extra help with their marketing efforts. Within my first month of starting this new venture, I started working with my first client! I’ve found the work so rewarding and feel more accomplished than I ever have in any of my corporate positions. I feel confident that becoming an entrepreneur was the right choice for me and I’m so happy that my path has led me here.

And that’s the story of MOD. The end.
